WELCOME to COTF

2010 Conference
The CAOT Annual General Conference was held from May 27-29in Halifax, NS at the Marriott Harbourfront. The conference was a great success for COTF's fundraising efforts:.

At the Silent Auction, $2,723 was raised. The Live Auction at Murphy's was exciting as well. Local personality, Neville MacKay was the motivating auctioneer. The evening's event raised $5,890! Thank you to those of you who donated in kind items for these fun filled events. If you would like an income tax receipt for your in kind donation, please contact skamble@cotfcanada.org to receive a donor declaration form. It would be appreciated if you could complete them by August 31, 2010. A big thank you to those who purchased the many items as well.

Lunch with a Scholar was presented by Deb Cameron from the University of Toronto. Deb's presentation was effective in showing the link between the work of clinicians and researchers. Her moving examples were inspiring to all.

COTF's Session was led by OTs from the University of Manitoba (Donna Collins, Juliette Cooper, Leanne Leclair, Jacquie Ripat, Marlene Stern and Pam Wener). The presentation was excellent and enable those in attendance to enage in dialogue about bridging the gap between clinicians and researchers.

At COTF's AGM, Huguette Picard (COTF President) shared COTF"s primary objectives with donors. Some excellent dialogue arose from this opportunity.

COTF thanks all of its donors for their support in making the conference a fundraising success!

New Scholarship for 2010

Blake Medical Distribution is funding a doctoral scholarship in the amount of $15,000 over three years. The doctoral student will receive $2,500 in the first year, $5,000 in the second year and $7,500 in the third year. Thank you to Blake Medical Distribution for this opportunity!

Doctoral Research Award for 2010

COTF is partnering again with CIHR and CIHR's Institue on Aging for a doctoral research award in the amount of $66,000.
