MARITA DYRBYE MENTAL HEALTH AWARD
One award of $1,000 is available every 2 years (odd year).
- Purpose
To enhance the practice of occupational therapy in mental health. In order of priority, the funds will be awarded for:
• Developing or supporting a community mental health program or initiative that results in direct benefit to clients
• Research projects related to increasing evidence-based occupational therapy practice in mental health, particularly research being done by front-line occupational therapists
• Attending or presenting at specialized conferences or educational sessions with commitment to disseminate information or knowledge
• Publication of literature to improve client education or quality of life Program enhancement
- Eligibility
The Applicant must:
- be a member in good standing of CAOT or a provincial association
- be engaged in clinical practice
- demonstrate the relevance of the activity to mental health practice
- Guidelines
The application may be used for, but is not limited to, the costs incurred for the following:
• purchase of materials
• transportation
• registration
• rental fee
• assessment kit
• materials
• equipment purchase or rental
• data entry and other services
• software
• professional support
• contract services
- Documentation
Provide five (5) copies of the following documents:
4.1 A photocopy of CAOT/provincial association membership card
4.2 Completed and signed application form
4.3 Application letter, not in excess of 1 (8.5 x 11) typed page (single spaced, using 1 inch margins with 11-point print size). The letter must include: identification of the purpose of the project as specified in Item 1 of this application projected time line relevance to mental health practice
4.4 Itemized budget for the activity
4.5 Curriculum vitae The award recipient will be requested to provide a photograph for publicity purposes.
- Deadline
MARCH 31, every odd year. Applications not received in the COTF office by the specified date and time will be returned to the applicant. The recipient of the award must provide a copy of the completed research report to COTF. COTF will forward a copy of the completed research report to the Marita Dyrbye Mental Health Award Review Committee.
