The attached document provides applicants with the Review Guidelines and Criteria that are utilized by the COTF Research and Scholarship Review Committee. Please read this document carefully to help you to understand how applications are being reviewed.

DESCRIPTION OF COTF SCHOLARSHIPS
Goldwin Howland Scholarship ($2,000)
Estabished in 1945 in appreciation of the tireless work of Dr. Goldwin W. Howland, first President of the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT). This scholarship is awarded annually to an individual, life or student member of CAOT who has demonstrated leadership and vision with the profession. Applicants must be enrolled in graduate study related to occupational therapy which has broad implications for the scope of the profession.
Deadline: September 30 annually.
Thelma Cardwell Scholarship ($2,000)
Established in 1985 in honour of Dr. Thelma Cardwell on the occasion of her retirement from the Occupational Therapy Division of the University of Toronto. This scholarship is awarded annually to an individual, life or student member of CAOT enrolled full-time in a master's or doctoral level program who has demonstrated an outstanding contribution to occupational therapy.
Deadline: September 30 annually.
Graduate Scholarships ($3,000 doctoral and $1,500 master's)
These scholarships are awarded annually to individual, life or student members of CAOT enrolled full-time or part-time in a master's or doctoral program in a discipline related to occupational therapy research.

Invacare Master's Scholarship ($2,000)
Estabished in 2006 in recognition of Invacare Canada's great contribution to COTF over many years. This scholarship is awarded annually to an individual, life or student member of CAOT enrolled full-time or part-time in a master's program in a discipline related to occupational therapy.
Deadline: September 30 annually.
Community Rehab Occupational Therapy Scholarship
Thank you to Community Rehab for funding this important scholarship. The Community Rehab Occupational Therapy Scholarship Award was established in 2007 by Community Rehab to support community based projects. This award provides support for occupational therapy research projects that advance rehabilitation at the community level ranging from home care services to health supported school care. Awards are made annually for up to $5,000 each. The awards are seed funds for mainly pilot or feasibility projects. Preference will be given to applicants heading up community based projects in Ontario. It is expected that the research will culminate in peer-reviewed publications or presentations at national or international conferences or an application for further funding to a national or federal agency. Publications arising from research supported by the Community Rehab must be acknowledged with the relevant sentence below:
”This research was supported by a Community Rehab Occupational Therapy Scholarship Award received through the Canadian Occupational Therapy Foundation.”

Francis and Associates Education Award ($1,000)
Created oin 2007, Francis & Associates recognizes the importance of continuing education in healthcare and education and would like to contribute and assist our professionals in this area. One Continuing Education Draw of $1,000 will be awarded on an annual basis to an individual enrolled in full-time or part-time masters or doctoral studies where the scholarship must be used towards Occupational Therapy education. This would include workshops, professional development courses, seminars, conferences or graduate studies – in Canada only. A separate application form is required for this award.
